Letter from the founder HRH Alwaleed Bin Talal

“I founded Alwaleed Philanthropies because I strongly believe we all have a responsibility to do what we can do to improve our world. It’s a belief that is central to my faith, my culture and values.

To bring this vision to life, for more than 3 decades Alwaleed Philanthropies has worked on supporting initiatives in 4 key areas. Firstly, empowering women and youth; secondly bringing cultures together; thirdly providing vital disaster relief; and fourthly developing communities, particularly in areas such us health, education, and infrastructure.

We are called “philanthropy without boundaries” because national borders, race, religion, and gender do not restrict us; what matters is that we can help people build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Working with partners, private and public, we have encouraged, supported, and financed thousands of projects around the world.

Thankfully, AP succeeded in providing millions of people with aid during disaster. We also made a difference to the lives of tens of thousands of people around the world by promoting tolerance and acceptance between different faiths and cultures.

I am proud of what we have already achieved together, but I am also of firm belief that our work has only just begun.”

The Prince’s charitable arm operates according to the highest professional standards and aims to affect social change and provide relief and opportunities to those most in need. While Prince Alwaleed’s benevolence has received many honors and accolades from many countries, prestigious organizations, monarchs, and heads of state, the strongest evidence of his care for the less fortunate is his public pledge to donate all his wealth to humanitarian causes.

Since the early 1980s, HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal has worked with a tireless commitment to giving back to society – at both a local and a global level. With an endless passion for philanthropic activities that foster understanding, unity, wellbeing, and opportunity for all humankind, Alwaleed Philanthropies was born.

Alwaleed Philanthropies consists of three philanthropic organizations:

Alwaleed Philanthropies Global, focusing on philanthropic and humanitarian projects around the world,

Alwaleed Philanthropies Lebanon, which is focused on the social and community needs of Lebanon, and

Alwaleed Philanthropies Saudi Arabia, which focuses on the needs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

For over four decades, Alwaleed Philanthropies supported thousands of projects in over 189 countries and served millions of people across the globe.
