Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel Attends Silatech’s 6th Board of Trustees Meeting in Tunisia Chaired by Sheikha Moza

HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global (registered in Lebanon) that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud attended the 6th Board of Trustees of the Silatech Foundation chaired by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in Tunisia.

During the meeting, the members discussed the achievements of Silatech in 2011 and the important programs and projects that encourage youth employment in the region especially during the current circumstances in the Arab world. Also, on the agenda of discussions were the strategic objectives for the year 2012. 


Silatech was founded in January 2008 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser with broad support from regional and international leading experts in economic development, civic engagement, and humanitarian division. Since their operations in late 2009, Silatech has created approximately 25,000 jobs for young people throughout the Arab world. Princess Ameerah joined the Board of Trustees of Silatech in 2010.

Princess Ameerah also attended the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between Dr. Tarik Yousef, CEO of Silatech and Mr. Martial Caratti, CFO of Tunisiana, a Tunisian Telecom Company, to provide job opportunities and vacancies for work using the mobile platform.

Princess Ameerah commented: “I am very proud of Silatech’s accomplishments and look forward to their future advancement under the great management of Dr. Yousef and the guidance of the board. Silatech is an exceptional initiative, very unique in the Arab region. I am honored to be part of Silatech, led by the inspirational chairwoman HH Sheikha Moza.

The members of the Board include, HE Martti Ahtisaari, Former President of Finland, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, 2008, Co-Chairman of the European Council on Foreign Relations, HE Mary Robinson, Republic of Ireland, Former President of the Republic of Ireland (1990-1997), Former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, President, Realizing Rights, The Ethical Globalization Initiative (1997-2002), HE Dr. Khaled Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Minister of International Cooperation, Qatar, Sir David Bell, Former Chairman of the Financial Times, United Kingdom, Mr. Nabil Kuzbari, President and CEO of Vimpex Handelsgesellschaft MBH, President and CEO of The Kuzbari Group, Syria, Mr. Rick Little, United States Chief Executive Officer of Silatech, Founder and President of the ImagineNations Group, Founder of the International Youth Foundation and Mr. John Chambers, Chairman and CEO of Cisco.


Alwaleed Foundation is committed to supporting youth and contributing to the elimination of unemployment through the Foundation’s youth initiative. The first step of this initiative was taken in December 2011, Alwaleed Foundation in partnership with The Ministry of Labor (MOL) supported the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Unemployment Awareness TV Campaign” a campaign that launched on December 3rd 2011 and will have a duration of 9 months. Rotana Group, chaired by Prince Alwaleed was the first company approached by MOL to support this initiative. Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and Rotana Media Group are proud to be the chosen MOL media partners on this campaign, and to do their part to effectively execute King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz’s vision to improve, develop, and benefit the women and men of Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, Alwaleed Foundation was the diamond sponsor of Tawteen 2012 event that was held at Intercontinental, Riyadh in January 2012; the event was inaugurated by Princess Ameerah. The event aimed at supporting young nationals, and contributes to the elimination of unemployment. The participation of Alwaleed Foundation came to support Tawteen 2012, which shares the goals and directions of the organization, and it is considered the second step of the initiative to enable young people, believing in the potential of Saudi youth and their ability to deliver.

Tawteen will be holding 13 exhibitions in a span of 3 years, the first was inaugurated and lasted for 3 days, in an aim to enable the youth and provide them with job opportunities.

As an extension of Prince Alwaleed’s commitment to improving the world “Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation” was institutionalized and obtained its license in 2009 from the Ministry of Social Affairs. In the past 30 years of charity and humanitarian work HRH has donated approximately SR10 billion to this cause.

The “Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation” encourages and supports organizations, studies, and academic centers focusing on empowering Saudi women, alleviating poverty, upgrading services provided to the population, and other social infrastructure issues that face the country. The foundation is also directly involved in major projects that provide direct aid to the citizens of Saudi Arabia ranging from medical aid to housing where hundreds of housing units have been provided to poor families as part of a 10 year project. Other projects the foundation is involved in include the distribution of electric generators to remote villages and, printing and the translation of the holy Quran into13 languages.

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global works to provide women and youth in the MENA region with economic and educational opportunities, through strategic philanthropic investments in sustainable projects of the Foundation’s various partner organizations. It tackles poverty and provides rapid aid in cases of natural disasters internationally. One of the many donations for rapid aid includes a substantial donation to South East Asia's Tsunami victims. The foundation also reframes perceptions of Islam and the West through dialogue, programs and educational centers around the world in order to promote a greater understanding between the different faiths and world views, part of which includes an endowment to the Louvre Museum in support of its collection of Islamic art.

cultural sectors across all communities in the Lebanon. The foundation was awarded the Pontifical Medal by Pope Benedict XV

I during a ceremony to mark the occasion held at the Vatican in 2008. The medal was in recognition of the achievement and efforts made by the Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation for encouraging tolerance between the different religious faiths and social groups in Lebanon, and promoting religious dialogue. Moreover, the medal acknowledged the foundation’s philanthropic activities and support to those in need regardless of their background and creed. Ms. El Solh personally received the medal from the Pope at the Vatican.
