HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding
Company (KHC), was awarded an honorary doctorate in literature from the University of Khartoum during his trip to #Sudan. This is his 22nd honorary doctorate. The honorary doctorate was awarded to the Prince by Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omar, Advisor to the President. HRH was honored for his significant influence on economic and social development in addition to his support for cultural and Middle East studies. The ceremony took place in the presence of HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by HRH.
Prince Alwaleed and Princess Ameerah were accompanied by a delegation that included Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman, Ms. Hassna Alturki, Executive Assistant Manager, Travel and External Affairs Department, Mr. Hicham Fleihan, Manager Travel and External Affairs Dept.
Also during the trip, HRH was awarded the Highest Honorary medal (the Republic Medal, First Degree) by the HE Sudanese President Omar Albashir during his recent visit to the capital Khartoum. The honoring was in the presence of Princess Ameerah. HRH and HH were accompanied by a delegation from Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and KHC. The Sudanese President warmly welcomed HRH and HH at the Presidential House and hosted a lunch in their honor in the presence of government officials. Moreover, the President and HRH discussed a number of social and economic issues in addition to the economic relations between the two countries. The Prince also met with HE Mr. Ali Ahmed Karty, Minister of Foreign Affairs where investment opportunities in the various sectors such as agriculture were explored.
Prince Alwaleed commented: "Alwaleed Foundation will continue to support Sudan."
Recently, Prince Alwaleed had received HE Mr. Ali Ahmed Kurti Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Abdulhafid Ibrahim Al Razik Sudanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Mr. Ahmed Yousef Mohammed, Ministers Office Manager.

In 2003, HRH donated 80 tons of supplies for Sudanese flood victims to help the government deal with the massive destruction that happened in some provinces east of the country. The donation consisted of tents, blankets, medical supplies, hygiene service requirements, water pumps and first aids for disasters were shipped from Riyadh to Agiler via a private cargo jet. Earlier that year also, Prince Alwaleed pledged a $10,000 donation to each family of the 115 victims who lost their lives in the crash of Sudanese Airliner.
