Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation (Registered in Saudi Arabia) that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, launched its Women Empowerment Initiative “Hama” during a ceremony that was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh and attended by a group of women leaders.
The ceremony started with a welcoming speech by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman and Secretary General, and was followed by a presentation of the initiative’s goals and achievements by Mrs. Nora Al-Malki, Executive Manager of Development Projects at Alwaleed Foundation. Dr. Suhaila Zain Alabdeen, key note speaker at the event, discussed “Women Empowerment in Islam”. Moreover, Alwaleed Foundation honored its partners during the event, which was moderated by Ms. Sarah Dundarawy.
“Hama” aims to support women's empowerment issues, emphasize their leadership within the society, empower women, develop their productivity and enhance their capacity in functional and technical fields.
During the ceremony, Alwaleed Foundation invited the audience to join in the Saudi Women Leaders Network (Eradah) that seeks to provide a network for the exchange of experiences between leaders and to support the aspiring young leaders to create positive impact in the society.
Alwaleed Foundation’s Women Empowerment Initiative that is overseeing implementation of Mrs. Nora Al-Malki, aims to support the greatest number of institutions that are active in raising awareness of women's legal rights. Moreover, the initiative supports vocational training programs for aspiring career women across various fields, as well as helping women with limited income learn to design artifacts. In addition to honoring women leaders and featuring their success stories in the society, in an aim to build role models for the youth. The initiative includes various groups of women, some with post-graduate degrees, and others with no university education, including women with no primary education.
