Prince Alwaleed Receives Sudanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received at his office in Riyadh the Sudanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia His Excellency Abdulhafiz Ibrahim Mohammed. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.

The meeting began as the Sudanese Ambassador thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. During the meeting, HRH and the Ambassador discussed a number of economic issues. The Ambassador commended Prince Alwaleed on his local, regional and international investments.

In 2011, HRH was awarded the Highest Honorary medal (the Republic Medal, First Degree) by the HE Sudanese President Omar Albashir during his visit to the capital Khartoum. The honoring was in the presence of HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman and Secretary General of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by HRH. The Prince and Princess were accompanied by a delegation from Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and KHC. The Sudanese President warmly welcomed HRH and HH at the Presidential House and hosted a lunch in their honor in the presence of government officials. The Prince also met with HE Mr. Ali Ahmed Kurti, Minister of Foreign Affairs where investment opportunities in the various sectors such as agriculture were explored.

Also during the trip, Prince Alwaleed was awarded an honorary doctorate in literature from the University of Khartoum. The honorary doctorate was awarded to the Prince by Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omar, Advisor to the President. HRH was honored for his significant influence on economic and social development in addition to his support for cultural and Middle East studies. The ceremony took place in the presence of Princess Ameerah.

In 2011, Prince Alwaleed had received HE Mr. Ali Ahmed Kurti and an accompanying delegation.

In 2012, the Alwaleed Foundation donated SR3,750,000 to support Khartoum University by purchasing equipment for 9 laboratories. In the same year, the Foundation donated SR150,000 for the construction of 40 housing units in Heglig, #Sudan which was destroyed.

In 2003, HRH donated 80 tons of supplies for Sudanese flood victims to help the government deal with the massive destruction that happened in some provinces east of the country. The donation consisted of tents, blankets, medical supplies, hygiene service requirements, water pumps and first aids for disasters were shipped from Riyadh to Agiler via a private cargo jet. Earlier that year also, Prince Alwaleed pledged a $10,000 donation to each family of the 115 victims who lost their lives in the crash of Sudanese Airliner.
