HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global (Registered in Lebanon), received HE Mr. Omar Gibril Sallah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of #Gambia. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
During the meeting, the Mr. Sallah thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. The Ambassador handed HRH a letter from HE Sheikh Professor Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, President of the Republic of The Gambia thanking Prince Alwaleed for his support to The Gambia through Alwaleed Foundation – Global and also inviting HRH to invest in his country through KHC in the tourism sector. Moreover, the Gambian President also extended an invitation to HRH to visit The Gambia. In response, Prince Alwaleed asked the Ambassador to relay cordial regards to the President and promised to visit The Gambia in the near future.
In 2011, HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Foundation – Global visited The Gambia and was cordially received by VP Njie-Saidy who thanked the Princess for her visit and for Alwaleed Foundation’s humanitarian support to his country.
Furthermore, during the trip, Princess Ameerah was given a tour of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP) Hospital in Bundung to view first-hand the developments made to the hospital’s facilities. The Foundation had assisted The Gambia on the humanitarian front with a donation of $500,000 towards the construction of a Alwaleed Diagnostic Center at the Jammeh Foundation for Peace in 2004. Also, the Princess pledged an additional donation of more than $100,000 to the hospital. The Princess was accompanied by the Honourable Minister for Basic and Secondary Education Madame Fatou Lamin Faye.
During the visit to the JFP hospital, Princess Ameerah addressed an audience, saying that: “The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global participated in this project out of the firm belief that no nation can possibly fulfill its developmental aspirations without attending to the health of its population.”
In 2005, Prince Alwaleed had met the Gambian President HE Prof. Yahya Jammeh during his visit who cordially welcomed HRH to his country. The President expressed his appreciation for the Prince's support for Gambia. In recognition of HRH's efforts and support to the country, the Prince was bestowed with an honorary medal of The Insignia of Grand Officer of the National Order of The Gambia. Furthermore, the Mayor of the capital Banjul, Lord Pa Sallah Jeng, handed Prince Alwaleed the Key to the Golden Gate of the City of Banjul. Lord Jeng also made HRH an Honorary Citizen of Banjul and gave the Prince a certificate of the same.
