Alwaleed Foundation Sponsors The Nexus: Global Youth Summit, Search For Common Ground with $50,000

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation* chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud and vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel supported the Search For Common Ground (SFCG) program entitled: “The Nexus: Global Youth Summit on Innovative Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship”. The Alwaleed Foundation granted $50,000 to the event in line with the Foundation’s focus on supporting education, vocational and youth training programs.

Princess Ameerah commented: "We are proud of the support provided by Alwaleed Foundation to the program, the Foundation works to support youth education and training as they are an effective element to society."

The summit goals are to bridge communities of wealth and social entrepreneurship through dialogue, collaborative problem solving and education, catalyze young global philanthropy and social investment, explore and advance the potential of next generation leadership across nations and sectors. Moreover, the objectives of the program are to develop a campaign for a culture of philanthropy, create learning networks and supporting follow-up events. During the event a presentation was given by Ms. Noor Aldabbagh, Executive Manager, Strategic Studies Department from Alwaleed Foundation.

In 2010, Alwaleed Foundation granted $50,000 to SFCG, a non-profit conflict prevention and resolution organization. The Common Ground Media training projects are a core component of SFCG projects. Their goal is to improve the way important issues in Muslim and Western relations are portrayed in the media, particularly in violent conflict situations, in order to reduce stereotypes, increase understanding and respect. Furthermore, they aim to transform international public opinion on all sides away from adversarial approaches that threaten the security of the states and individuals involved, toward cooperative solutions. SFCG partners include Prince Alwaleed Centers at Georgetown, the American University of Beirut, and the American University of Cairo.

HRH’s philanthropic grants and donations over 65 countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe; from Gaza to The Gambia, totaling more than $2.4 billion over the last 30 years. HRH has established three Foundations to handle his philanthropic activities across the globe under the slogan “Commitment Without Boundaries”: Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation in Saudi Arabia Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation in Lebanon, and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global registered in Lebanon. His foundations work locally, regionally and internationally to combat poverty, strengthen interfaith and intercultural dialogue and empower women and youth.
