Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, and vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, was the diamond sponsor of Tawteen 2012 event that was held at Intercontinental, Riyadh on Wednesday 4th January 2012.
The event was inaugurated by Princess Ameerah, and was attended by government officials, dignitaries, VIP’s and businessmen and women. The event was also attended by Ms. Nora Almalki, Executive Manager Local Projects, Alwaleed Foundation and Ms. Halla Angawi, Executive Manager, International Projects Department, Alwaleed Foundation.
The event was organized by Prolink with the support of the Alwaleed Foundation, aimed at supporting young nationals, and contributes to the elimination of unemployment. The program supports government initiatives, non-profit organizations and the private sector concerted efforts to enable young people to enter the labor market at all levels of education, and work to create modern jobs in line with the current advancement of Saudi society and contributes to the process of creating qualified nationals. The participation of Alwaleed Foundation came to support Tawteen 2012, which shares the goals and directions of the organization, and it is considered the second initiative to enable young people, believing in the potential of Saudi youth and their ability to deliver.
Princess Ameerah commented: “"One of the Foundation's ultimate goals is significantly advancing Saudi youth employment. This initiative began two months ago with the Foundation's support to the Ministry of Labor's unemployment awareness campaign followed by the second phase with the support of the Tawteen exhibition. This year, we will continue with this initiative to encourage our youth to become independent and participate in the development of our beloved country."
Her Highness continued: "There will be 13 exhibitions in a span of 3 years and we have inaugurated the first that will run for 3 days. I would like to thank Alanoud Abu Alnaja and her team for their tremendous efforts in making this event a success, and thank all the companies that have participated and offered job opportunities in support of the Tawteen initiative. I also wish all of those who have visited the exhibition to seek employment opportunities, great success."
In December 2011, Alwaleed Foundation in partnership with The Ministry of Labor (MOL) supported the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Unemployment Awareness TV Campaign” campaign that launched on December 3rd 2011 and will have a duration of 9 months. Rotana Group, chaired by Prince Alwaleed was the first company approached by MOL to support this initiative. Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and Rotana Media Group are proud to be the chosen MOL media partners on this campaign, and to do their part to effectively execute King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz’s vision to improve, develop, and benefit the women and men of Saudi Arabia.
The SR10M campaign is running on three Rotana Channels: Rotana Khalijia, Rotana Cinema and Fox Movies. The Awareness TV Campaign supporting MOL's is aligned with Alwaleed Foundation’s long term commitment to solving the unemployment issue. In line with the Saudi governments’ initiative towards Saudization and improving the employment rate for its citizens, Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), chaired by Prince Alwaleed currently has 93% Saudi employees.
The Campaign aims to transform the mindsets of the audience through highlighting some of the causes of unemployment in Saudi society in its messages, such as the lack of trust in female employees ability to join the private sector, corporations not tapping into or recognizing Saudi talent, the stigma attached to blue color jobs, the lack of investment in the Saudi work force or training programs; as well as, the Saudi Youth's lack of trust in their ability to climb up the corporate ladder.
The Alwaleed Foundation encourages and supports organizations, studies, and academic centers focusing on empowering Saudi women, alleviating poverty, upgrading services provided to the population, and other social infrastructure issues that face the country. The Foundation also supports the following projects for the empowerment of women that includes the Al Faisaliah Women’s Charitable Society, “Seleslah” to support handicrafts and the women involved in the work. This project has grown during the past six years to become the center that trained and employed 150 women. Other areas that are supported by the Foundation are various HYPERLINK "http://www.alwaleedfoundations.com/saudi-arabia/?project=/awareness-and-education-projects/" awareness and education projects HYPERLINK "http://www.alwaleedfoundations.com/saudi-arabia/?project=/tie-ups-with-womens-centers/" tie-ups with women’s centers, HYPERLINK "http://www.alwaleedfoundations.com/saudi-arabia/?project=/handicraft-centers/" handicraft sector, HYPERLINK "http://www.alwaleedfoundations.com/saudi-arabia/?project=/training-for-employment/" training and employment.
As an extension of Prince Alwaleed’s commitment to philanthropic causes “Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation” obtained its license in 2009 from the Ministry of Social Affairs. In the past 30 years of charity and humanitarian work HRH has donated more than SR10 billion to this cause.
