HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received HE Mr Goh Chok Tong, Emeritus Senior Minister of #Singapore and Senior Advisor to Monetary Authority of Singapore who was on an official trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Tong was accompanied by a delegation that included Mr. Wong Kwok Pun, Singapore Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Vikram Nair, Member of Parliament, Mr. Ngiam Shih Chun, Special Assistant to Emeritus Senior Minister and Mr. Tai Boon Leo, Executive Director, Monetary Authority of Singapore.
The meeting was also attended by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by HRH, Mr. Shadi Sanbar, KHC’s CFO, Ms. Heba Fatani, Senior Executive Manager, Corporate Communications Department, Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman and Ms. Amani Algahtani, Assistant Executive Manager HRH’s Palaces.
The meeting began as Mr. Tong thanked the Prince for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. Mr. Tong commended Prince Alwaleed on his efforts on the economic and social fronts, and on his local, regional and international investments. The two also discussed HRH’s investments in Singapore through KHC that include Tamasek, a Four Seasons hotel and a Raffles hotel in the hotels sector, and in the financial sector through Citigroup. Mr. Tong said the Prince has played a role in strengthening Saudi-Singaporean economic relations.
The two also discussed the Raffles brand of hotels which has great historic significance in Singapore, and the Prince referred to Raffles Hotel Mecca under the management of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI), a 76-story tower at 577 meters high, it is among the world’s tallest and its unique and distinctive features will ensure a landmark presence. Such features include a 40-meter clock, visible from 17 kilometers away and 40 times larger than Big Ben in London. Moreover, Prince Alwaleed hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Tong at HRH’s Palace

In the same year, KHC announced that Fernvale Investments (Mauritius) Pte Ltd, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited, is making a capital commitment of US $75 million to Pan-African Investment Partners II Limited (the second Kingdom Zephyr fund, known as PAIP II). In 2008, the Prince received HE Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister, Minister Mentor of the Republic of Singapore who was accompanied by Ms. Lee Xiu Qi his granddaughter, daughter of the PM of Singapore, and also previously received him in 2006.
