SR1 Million Gift From Prince Alwaleed to Team Members
HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, congratulated HRH Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, General President of Youth Welfare of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee for the national team’s outstanding performance in the 12th Pan Arab Games which was concluded in Doha, Qatar on Friday December 23rd 2011 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani Emir of Qatar. The Saudi team came in 6th place in a fierce competition with 21 Arab countries with a total of 45 medals in different competitions.
Prince Alwaleed commented: “We congratulate our champions for this great achievement that reflects the advancement made in sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
To mark the occasion, Prince Alwaleed presented SR780,000 as a gift to the 52 team members who earned the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals with the following amounts:
- SR 20,000 to Gold medal winners.
- SR 15,000 to Silver medal winners.
- SR 10,000 to Bronze medal winners.
In addition, the team management was also awarded with SR220,000 Prince Alwaleed stressed the importance of supporting sports and athletes in the Kingdom. Furthermore, Prince Alwaleed expressed how vital it is to encourage youth by supporting their talent and investing in their future through various sport activities. Prince Alwaleed is well known for his continuous contributions to sports locally and regionally.
